My name is Gemma Makin and I am a qualified primary school teacher based in Ipswich, Suffolk, able to provide one-to-one tutoring in the comfort of your own home.
I have experience from:
- Early Years Settings like playgroups and nurseries using the Early Years Curriculum
- Primary Settings – mainly in Year 3 and 4, I have worked heavily in transitional year groups, and with Pupil Premium children with the aim of bridging the gaps between them and their peers.
- Secondary Settings , as before I mentioned transitional work – I am now working with existing pupils to encourage them to be the best they can be in the leap from Primary to Secondary.
- I have also been a civilian instructor in the Sea Cadet Corps, working with young people aged from ten up to the age of eighteen.
I have a degree from University Campus Suffolk in Early Childhood Studies with Practitioner Options. I am currently working towards a qualification in Children and Young People’s Mental Health. I have an interest in working with children with additional needs and giving them the support, guidance and encouragement to succeed, offering a personalised curriculum based upon their interests whilst enabling them to explore risk-taking and confidence building exercises alongside academic studies.
